The United Nations condemns Iran's execution of 28 minority prisoners

The United Nations Human Rights Office condemned Iran's execution of 28 convicts, including a number of imprisoned minorities in the country, calling on Tehran to stop the execution of a convict of Baluchi origin.
The Human Rights Office wrote that we strongly condemn the execution of at least 28 people since mid-December, including people from minorities.
"We urge the authorities to stop the impending execution of Javed Dehghan, and to review his case and other execution cases in line with the human rights law," the office added.
For its part, Amnesty International said that Dehghan was sentenced to death after being convicted in a trial the organization described as "unfair", on charges of belonging to an armed group and participating in an ambush that resulted in the killing of two Iranian Revolutionary Guardsmen.
It is reported that Iran has faced criticism from Western countries and human rights organizations due to its implementation of the death sentences.
